Monday

Breakfast: chocolate oatmeal a la Andy, bottle of water.

Snack: chocolate South Beach bar, cup of coffee. It's cold in my office!

Lunch: SB garlic parmesan chicken with penne; for the life of me, I would swear that there was no pasta in there. Pretty good considering how much I like broccoli and red pepper.

Sunday

Breakfast:

Lunch: John Coctostan at Moe's, cup of diet Coke.

Snack: wheat thins with ham, cheese and salsa.

Dinner: EFL Chicken parmesan, peas,

Snack: caramel popcorn with peanuts during the Super Bowl.

Saturday

Breakfast:

Workout: the 5K "nut race".

Snack: bowl of granola with milk at Cafe Berlin, water.

Lunch: Roly Poly again! I think it was called the Cider House melt.

Dinner:

Friday

Breakfast:

Lunch: The usual. #23 (half on wheat) at Roly Poly with combo #1.

Dinner: we were late in getting home, so we went to Catfish Corner. I had the chicken strips basket, which came with potato wedges and slaw. Water to drink.

Thursday

Workout: 45 minutes of weight lifting

Breakfast:

Lunch: SB pork with green beans & pecans, water

Dinner:

Went to 100-man night with the Boonslick Chordbusters and didn't get home until almost 11.

Wednesday

(Wednesday is free day; I get to eat anything I want.)

Breakfast: Hardee's loaded breakfast burrito, cinnamon raisin biscuit, cup of water. Why can't other fast food places come up with anything as good as Hardee's cinnamon raisin biscuit? Dessert: cup of decaf at work with hazelnut and caramel coffee mate.

Lunch: half a grilled Roly Poly with their yummy honey mustard sauce, #1 combo, oatmeal cookie.

Dinner: Golden Corral. Suffice it to say that there was a variety of food involved.

Tuesday

Workout: 45 minutes weight training, 30 minutes on the elliptical machine. It was too cold to run outside! Puppies were disappointed.

Breakfast: chocolate oatmeal, bottle of water.

Snack: half cup cottage cheese, cup of BB yogurt, cup of lemon herbal tea.

Lunch: South Beach chicken and green beans, can of diet ginger ale.

Snack: South Beach chocolate bar.

Dinner: leftover taco salad, can of diet black cherry soda. The taco salad tasted especially good tonight.

Workout: 30 minutes on the elliptical machine while I watched Boston Legal.

Snack: EFL cheesecake with blueberry topping and cool whip.

Monday

Breakfast: Andy omelet, english muffin with soy butter and sugar-free blackberry jelly, water.

Snack: half cup cottage cheese, cup of BB cherry vanilla yogurt, cup of blueberry herbal tea.

Lunch: South Beach Southwestern Chicken wraps, can of diet ginger ale. Big K canned diet sodas come in a lot of flavors, and they're really cheap. I don't see how anyone can compete.

Snack: half cup cottage cheese, cup of yogurt, glass of water.

Dinner: EFL barbecue chicken pizza, peas, bottle of water.

Snack: EFL cheesecake with blueberry topping and cool whip, bottle of water.

Sunday

Breakfast: banana oatmeal, bottle of water.

Church.

Lunch: "John Cocstostan" at Moe's. I've had the burritos, but I like the quesadillas better. It's all about the cheese. :-) Chips and salsa, 2 glasses of diet Coke.

Workout: 3-mile run with the dogs followed immediately by 6-mile solo run.

Snack: string cheese, multigrain wheat thins, can of Jones diet black cherry soda. Note: Jones diet soda is the only diet soda that doesn't have aspartame (which sometimes gives me headaches) or ace-K (which leaves a bad aftertaste in my mouth).

Dinner: EFL taco salad, bottle of water.

Snack: EFL cheesecake with blueberry topping, bottle of water.

Saturday, January 27, 2007

Saturday

Breakfast: protein shake, bottle of water.

Workout: 10-mile run.

Snack: bowl of granola with whole milk, glass of water.

Lunch: Reuben at Bread Basket Cafe, two cups of diet Coke. Bread Basket Cafe has wonderful sandwiches, soups and cookies, but for some reason, I didn't want soup today. The reuben was fantastic. Their rye bread doesn't have caraway seeds.

nap!

Dinner: CMC banquet. Salad was spinach, mushrooms and french dressing. Simple but surprisingly good. The green beans had lots of almonds, and they were good. The grilled chicken breasts were plain and dry. A little A-1 for chicken would've been nice. The pork was plain but moist and good. I would guess that the apple pie came frozen; it was very generic but good. Had as much water as I could get; the pitcher was mostly full of ice. Notes from Andy: the baked apples had weird spices in them, and the chocolate dessert was partially frozen. I didn't try the potatoes, and he didn't comment on them. A note on the banquet: Andy had the second-best attendance at the Tuesday/Thursday runs in 2006; he made 101 out of 104.

Friday

Breakfast: maple walnut oatmeal, bottle of water.

Snack: Kyle brought doughnuts to our weekly staff meeting, and I had two. Rebecca then brought cupcakes when she came to train us on using our AED, and I had a cupcake too.

Lunch: Friday usual. I didn't need to remind Athena at Roly Poly what I wanted; she already knew I was going to order a half #37 (chicken cordon bleu) with a #1 combo (diet coke and Sun chips). I'm amazed every time I have a #37 how good it is. I also really like Sun chips; they're a lot better than any of the baked Lay's.

Dinner: leftover EFL beef Asian stir fry, bottle of water.

Workout: half an hour on the elliptical machine. Watched a new show while I worked out: "Brothers and Sisters". It reminded me of some other good ensemble shows from the past like "Sisters", but it didn't seem to have any quirks.

Snack: EFL chocolate mousse.

A purpose!

Last night's disappointing pizza at Flat Branch inspired me to warn the world that their once-wonderful Italian sausage & mushroom pizza is suddenly WAY too spicy. FWIW, I'm not fond of their brownie sundae either. I won't be clamoring to go back to eat there. As far as I'm concerned, Flat Branch has officially lost the competition for "best pizza downtown" to the calzones at Fellini.

I've never been someone who could keep a diary, much less a blog, so I'm starting this food diary without a lot of expectation that it will succeed. Let's see what happens, shall we?

Workout: 45 minutes weight lifting, 30-minute run with the dogs.

Breakfast: South Beach bar (chocolate peanut butter). Chewy, crunchy and yummy. 2 bottles of water; I was thirsty from my morning workout. Dessert: two Hit! mints (in car).

Snack: 1/2 cup cottage cheese, cup of blueberry yogurt. Bottle of water.

Lunch: South Beach cheese pizza, 3 oz. carrots, diet Coke. Okay, it's microwave pizza, but it isn't too bad. At least it's edible! I'll have this again.

Snack: low-sugar Detour bar. Excellent fake candy bar.

Dinner: It was supposed to be EFL taco salad, but Andy put the wrong meat in the microwave oven, so we had EFL Asian Beef Stir Fry instead. I prepared the meat and Andy prepared the veggies. I really like this meal. Can of Diet Pepsi and a bottle of water. Dessert: 1 Mento.

Workout: 30 minutes on the elliptical machine while I watched the first half of "Shark". Not a program I'll be in a hurry to watch again, but it's okay. "My Name is Earl" was an episode that I hadn't seen before, and I watched the second half of "Ugly Betty" while I read the paper.

Snack: slice of EFL cheesecake with apple pie topping, Cool Whip, and walnuts. Bottle of water.
